Seoul Authourities Take Preventive Measures Against Epidemics
The Seoul Metropolitan Government is undertaking urgent preventive action to combat the outbreak of epidemics as the number of patients infected with contagious diseases and food poisoning has recently been on the rise in Seoul.The government announced Monday that 24 cases of typhoid fever, 43 people infected with bacterial dysentery, and 109 malarial patients were reported as of July 16 this year.
In response, Seoul authourities will set July 20 as a 'special anti-epidemic day', at which time, to prevent the spread of diseases, they will mobilize helicopters, specialized vehicles, and personnel to areas with poor sanitary conditions from 9 am to 10 pm.
Health authorities also plan to launch a '100-Day Campaign for a Healthy Summer' on July 20 through to the end of October.
