Arrest Warrant Demanded for Ex-Senior Prosecutor Chin

The prosecution task force investigating the so-called strike-instigation scandal Wednesday proposed an arrest warrant for a former senior prosecutor, Chin Hyung-koo, on the charge of having plotted the scandal.
Prosecutors have confirmed that Chin was involved in the taming labor union scandal at the state-run minting company.
Chin was charged with violating rules banning third-party intervention under labor-related laws, obstruction of business and abuse of power.
However, former justice minister Kim Tae-jong and Kang Hee-bok, former president of the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corp. are not responsible for the scandal, the prosecution task force said.
Prosecutors said that they failed to find any evidence on which to charge Kim and Kang, having questioned them thoroughly Tuesday.
It was reported that the task force gained critical evidence that the scandal was plotted and largely implemented by Chin, after having interrogated Kang Hee-bok.
In early June, Chin told three reporters under the influence of alcohol that he incited a strike at the minting company last November with the intention of cracking down on unions and their leaders and to show the power of enforcement with respect to walkouts in public work places.
