Wedding Ceremonies to Be Allowed at First Class Hotels
It will be permitted to hold a wedding ceremony at a first-class hotel from August 9.The Ministry of Health and Welfare said on Tuesday that 27 first-class hotels throughout the nation will be licensed to hold marriage ceremonies as the law on family rituals is to be abolished on August 9.
An official at the Ministry pointed out that there are concerns on whether the gap between the poor and the rich may be made more visible in the event that some of the rich hold luxurious wedding ceremonies, renting wedding halls at the cost of over 20 million won and serving food worth 35,000 to 100,000 won per person.
The Ministry plans to send a letter to owners of wedding halls at the hotels asking that they control conspicuous consumption at ceremonies. It also plans to launch a campaign for the promotion of a healthy wedding culture in which the lavishness of the ceremony is not primarily importance.
