Certificates to Be Issued On-line

Various kinds of certificates and licences, including certificate of residency, will be issued by on-line machines open 24 hours a day across Korea from October 2000. Administrative information will also be offered through the Internet.
The Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs announced Wednesday that it has developed a new computerized administrative information system covering municipalities, counties, and districts, and it will have distributed the system to 232 local government bodies across the nation by the end of September, 2000.
When the system is in place, those living in Korea will be able to receive seven certificates, including residency and car registration, from designated on-line machines.
The on-line machines will be conveniently installed in department stores and banks as well as in local administrative centers.
The ministry also decided to offer various administrative information by opening its 'Local Administrative Information Bank' on the Internet.
