New France Town in Socho District

The Socho District office announced Tuesday that it will officially designate Bangbae-dong and Banpo-dong area as 'France Town'.
A French school and 500 of the 950 French people living in Korea reside in the area south of the Banpo Bridge and behind Palace Hotel.
Salima Brombeck said, 'It is very close to my children's school and has great facilities and our Korean neighbors are very welcoming and kind.'
French signs will be posted in the area by Socho District office which will also periodically offer free medical checkups to residents.
Furthermore, to boost relations and friendship, it will host a French movie festival and offer French classes for Koreans while building up the soon-to-be heart of the area - French Street.
It will seek assistance from the French Embassy in developing and promoting the area before fixing a schedule.
