Parliament to Conduct Inspection of Controversial Document

The ruling and opposition parties agreed on October 29 that the National Assembly will conduct a deep probe into the recently-publicized document that suggests the current government has set in motion a plan to muzzle the press.
The three floor leaders - Park Sang-chon, Lee Keung-kyu, and Lee Bu-young - of the National Congress for the New Politics, the United Liberal Democrats, and the Grand National Party held a meeting in the National Assembly building this morning in which they agreed to finalize details such as when the probe will start, how long it will last, and who is to be selected to testify in the probe, when they meet again this afternoon.
The floor leaders also decided to conduct the parliamentary interpellation of the government on social and cultural areas after reopening the plenary session of the National Assembly.
They agreed to reopen the economic interpellation of the government, which was boycotted by the opposition party, on November 1 and 2.
President Kim Dae-jung ordered Friday that a probe into the document which has been causing controversy across the nation should be conducted so that suspicions surrounding the document might be resolved.
