Gov"t Searches Lee"s Office

National Intelligence Service (NIS) agents Monday night searched the office of Lee Jong-chan, vice-president of the ruling National Congress for New Politics (NCNP) and former NIS chief.
Lee took some documents with him when he left the NIS and this has been causing a great deal of argument.
The NIS confiscated from Lee's Yoido office two boxes of NIS-related papers and documents, which Lee had removed from his former NIS office.
Lee said, 'When I resigned the NIS chief position on May 26, I took with me some papers concerning national policy-making. I called NIS agents myself, as a broadcasting reporter recently stole some of the papers, and let them take back the remaining documents.'
He claimed to reporters that in May he removed the documents with the approval of the NIS.
