Reporter Moon Arrives in Seoul

The Seoul District Prosecutors Office on November 8 immediately summoned JoongAng Ilbo reporter Moon Il-hyun, author of the so-called 'Press Coercion Document', upon his arrival in Seoul.
Moon, who is on sabbatical from the newspaper to pursue a Ph.D from Beijing University, touched down in Seoul on Monday and directly went to the prosecution's headquarters in Seocho-dong, southern Seoul.
The prosecutors asked Moon why he wrote the comprehensive account of how to suppress the press for the ruling party's vice president, Lee Jong-chan, and demanded the details of the letter he sent to Lee and if he consulted with others.
The office also confiscated Moon's notebook computer to recover and analyze his files.
Moon reportedly told prosecutors that he had no idea how the personal paper on press reform he had wrote for Lee was leaked out and that no other person was involved in the writing of the document.
The prosecution will conduct an intensive interrogation of both Moon and Lee to determine any differences in testimony.
