Seoul Interpol Session Ends
The 68th Interpol session, in which about 900 representatives from 178 nations participated, ended Friday closing a five-day schedule in Seoul. It adopted the 'Seoul Resolution', which comprises an anti-corruption declaration, details on isolating financial supply routes for terrorism, countermeasures to the illicit exchange of cultural assets and a section on the Interpol image of the new millenium.
To realize some of the goals set out in the resolution, Interpol has decided to include a 'morals test' when recruiting new police while actively disseminating information on an international level.
Participants in the session also decided to work towards the fair enforcement of police authority through training in issues of morality.
In addition to that, Interpol will keep alert to the trade in children, juvenile prostitution and illegal immigration.
The next Interpol sessions in 2000 and 2001 will be held in Greece and Hungary respectively.
