Senior Presidential Secretaries to Step Down

President Kim Dae-jung will likely change his senior secretaries, including Chief Secretary to the Blue House Kim Jung-kwon, on November 23 at the earliest.
The presidential spokesman, Park Jun-young, said on Monday that the president has decided to shuffle some of his senior secretaries who are expected to begin campaigning for parliamentary election, scheduled for April of the year 2000.
Not only the chief secretary but senior political secretary to the president, Kim Jung-gil, and senior policy and planning secretary to the Blue House(Chong Wa Dae), KIm Han-kil, are said to be stepping down from their positions to run for the National Assembly election.
However, Park stated that no decisions were made on whether Senior Presidential Economic Secretary Lee Ki-ho or Hwang Won-tak, foreign affairs and security secretary to the president, will resign to participate in the election.
Mr. Park added that President Kim does not consider reshuffling any members of his cabinet.
