Candidate Pool for Chief Operation Officer Position Necessary

It has been suggested that the government publicly select a pool of candidates for the minister-level chief operation officer (COO), as a step towards administrative reform.
A public hearing on 'Long- and Mid-Term Vision and Policies for the Government Sector' was held at the Korea Institute of Public Finance on Tuesday.
A senior researcher at the Samsung Economic Research Institute insisted in the hearing on the necessity for the government to draw up a pool of qualified candidates as the COO leadership urgently needs to be streghthened, so the government's competitive power is increased.
The researcher also suggested to the government that it draw up a 'knowledge map' or telephone directory for a group of persons, through which the prompt delivery of government knowledge can be made to consumers.
