President KIm"s Visit to Europe

President Kim Dae-jung and First Lady Lee Hee-ho headed for Europe on Feb. 2 for a 10-day tour of Italy, the Vatican, France and Germany. During his first state trip of the new millennium, Kim will have individual summit talks with the heads of state in the four countries, to discuss ways to promote economic cooperation, matters related to international affairs, and the 3rd Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM) to be held in Seoul in October.
President Kim is also expected to propose the construction of an information superhighway linking both Korea and other Asian countries with European states. He will explore ways to promote cooperation with small and medium-sized enterprises in Germany and Italy
