The Ministry of Labor Affair Do Even Not Respect Self-Evaluation

The Ministry of Labor reacted to a report in the JoongAng Daily News (March 9, setion 1&5) regarding the ineffectual government benefit plan for the unemployed for 1999.
An official from the Ministry of Labor called the newspaper to contradict facts within the article, saying that many facts were "not true." The official also took offense to the title of the article, "Waste of Money."
The controversial article was based on the research report, "Unemployment Status and Efficiency Analysis of the Unemployment Plan." It was written by the Korea Labor Institute and the Korea Development Institute, both under the supervision of the Office of the Prime Minister. The Ministry of Labor paid 200 million won ($178 thousand) for the report.
The JoongAng reporter claims that his article was based on the government report.
Another source from the Ministry of Labor said, "The Korea Labor Insitute was irresponsible in releasing the confidential research report," and, "We no longer deal with this institute."
In response, the Korea Labor Institute has written to the JoongAng Daily News, in an attempt to downplay its own report. JoongAng News has already published a rebuttal from the Ministry of Labor.
