Successful Campaign Strategy "Grab Your Voters' Attention"
In the past, election candidates have had to overcome the fact that their party's traditional unpopularity in regions where they were running. In the 1996 General Election, Kang Hyong-uk and Lee Wan-ku were elected in Cholla and Chungchong Province respectively, as representatives of the ruling party. However, these two regions were considered staunch supporters of the United Liberal Democrats, who were the opposition in the National Assembly. Kang and Lee never criticized the leaders of those parties but focused on their own reliability and campaign policies.Kang said, "I concentrated on my duties as minister of Agriculture and Forestry. My one and only strategy was to appeal to voters with an image of a good worker." Lee advised, "The campaign office's stability is the most important factor during an election."
