Envoy Delivers Interest in CDMA Cooperation With China
Namgoong Suek, who is visiting China as a special envoy of President Kim Dae-jung to promote cooperation of the CDMA (code division multiple access) industry between the two nations, failed to meet Premier Zhu Rongji. Instead, the former minister of information and communication met Vice Premier Wu Bangguo on March 17 to relay Korea's interest.Mr. Namgoong carried President Kim's letter requesting China's help with regards to Korean companies' advancement in Chinese markets, but the meeting with Premier Zhu did not take place. Mr. Namgoong's visit was scheduled for February 28, but it was delayed because China expressed the reluctance of the National People's Congress to hold meetings.
