Lawmaker Kang Sam-jae Prepares For Next Presidential Election

Lawmaker Kang Sam-jae,member of the Grand National Party(GNP) pledged on April 2 that he would mount a challenge for the presidency of the GNP. He is now running for election to the National Assembly from the South Kyongsang Province.

His vow is seen as an initial step towards the next presidential election. It is believed that his announcement will trigger other lawmakers to follow suit and announce their candidacies for president. This is the first time a member of the GNP has announced his intention of running in the next presidential election.

Meanwhile, lawmakers representing the Millennium Democratic Party (MDP), such as Lee In-jae, No Mu-hyeon and Kim Gun-tae are reportedly interested in running in the next presidential election.
