Jee Eun-hee Demonstrates Against Lee Jong-chan of the Millennium Democratic Part

A crisp strong female voice spread through the streets of Chong-no on April 11. "We need a revolution in our corrupt state! Everyone knows who the blacklisted candidates are. It is time for the voters to change politics!"

Jee Eun-hee has been demonstrating against Lee Jong-chan, a candidate from the Millennium Democratic Party, in Chong-no, a district famous for its hostile political power battles. Ms. Jee is a representative of the Citizen's Alliance for the 2000 General Elections. Her battle with Lee, in his fourth consecutive term, has been likened to the biblical tale of David and Goliath.

Jee has been demonstrating against Lee since April 5. She has visited markets, Pagoda park and the streets of Chong-no with the sole aim of pursuing voters not to vote for Mr. Lee in the upcoming elections.

Jee said that "democracy had not taken deep roots in Korea because of the politicians who have violated the nation's constitutional order." She added that "the choice is now in the voters' hands. The only way to beat the blacklisted candidates is to vote for the right candidate."
