MOFAT Reports Summit Meeting To Major Nations

On April 10 a Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT) officer stated that they have revealed the plans for the South-North June summit meeting to friendly nations around the world and asked for their cooperation.
Foreign Affairs and Trade minister Lee Joung-bin invited the ambassadors of four powerful countries with close ties to the Korean peninsula, including the United States, Japan, China, and Russia, as well as eight other countries including France, Germany, Italy, and Portugal to the government office. At the meeting, Lee informed them of the agreement to hold the South-North summit meeting.
President Kim Dae-jung visited France, Germany, and Italy while touring Europe in March, during which time he made the Berlin Declaration. Portugal is currently the leading nation in the European Union (EU).
Assistant Secretary Jang Jae-ryong also summoned the Korean diplomatic corps to the government office the same day and explained the agreement.
