Ruling MDP Asks for Dialogue, Cooperation With Opposition GNP
According to Yonhap News Agency, Rhee In-je, chief of the ruling Millennium Democratic Party's (MDP) election measures committee, on Friday asked the main opposition Grand National Party (GNP) for bilateral dialogue and cooperation on state affairs.'We urge the GNP to show suprapartisan cooperation with us in economic recovery and improved inter-Korean relations for pan-national reconciliation and cooperation on the Korean Peninsula,' Rhee said in a press conference.
The MDP fell behind 18 seats to the GNP in the general elections Thursday.
'We humbly accept the choice of voters as the public's feeling on current politics,' he said, 'Our party will make all-out efforts to continue reform for economic recovery.'
Rhee also expressed his thanks to voters who supported the MDP, which expanded its stronghold nationwide to the Chungchong, Kangwon and Cheju provinces and Seoul and vicinity.
