President Kim To Make National Address
On April 17, President Kim Dae-jung will officially address the nation in order to explain his politcal plans now that the general elections are over. He will also ask for national cooperation in order to ensure the success of the June North-South summit talks, and to ask for help in establishing economic stability in South Korea.On April 16, Chung Wa Dae spokesman Park Joon-young stated that President Kim will express his opinion on how the results of the election will affect governmental operations.
President Kim is also expected to emphasize cooperation between the ruling and opposition parties, including the suggestion of a meeting with Grand Natioal Party (GNP) head Lee Hoi-chang. The five minute, prerecorded TV announcement will be aired at 11 a.m. on April 17.
