President Ready to Get Back to Work
"Korea will always keep its promises with foreign investors," President Kim Dae-jung stated in a ministerial meeting on April 18. "I will take firm measures to reshape the image of the nation as the most secure area for foreign investors," he added. The measures will include continuous efforts for the restructuring of the business sector. The restructuring is expected to emphasize specialty and globaly competent companies. He expressed his concerns about the lack of morals sometimes found in public circle and the lame-duck phenomenon which surfaces as a president is about to leave office, saying, "The general elections are not the end. There are still three more years left in my presidency."
"Interest groups were busy following their selfish desires during the last election campaign. However, it is time to start working for all citizens," he concluded.
