Government Promotes Allies' Solidarity for Summit
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Lee Joung-binn will make a state visit to China for three days from April 27. The minister will meet his Chinese counterpart, Tang Jiaxuan, to seek his assistance in the historic inter-Korean summit.Matters such as North Korean defectors, a bilateral fisheries agreement, the safety of Koreans living in China, and economic cooperation will also be on the top of the agenda.
In addition, Lee will visit Premier Zhu Ronggi to further promote good relations between Seoul and Pyongyang, and more specifically to win his support in the summit.
Meanwhile, vice-Minister Ban Ki-moon will visit the United States from May 1-2, and Japan on May 8, to advance the solidarity of the allied nations with regard to the upcoming summit.
