Politicians Beef Up On North Korean Issues

In conjunction with the recent thawing of relations with North Korea, politicians are eager to study North Korean issues and the possible effects that reconciliation might have on the South.

Kim Ken-tae, the supervisor of the Millennium Democratic Party (MDP), is selecting various newly elected lawmakers to restaff the 'East Asia Peace Forum.' Moreover, Park Jong-wung, a member of the Grand National Party (GNP) who used to run a study group on reunification issues, is planning to hold a seminar with various North Korean specialists.

Kim Young-hwan (MDP) and Park Joo-sun (Independent), who were elected at this year's general election, are now beginning to study with the help of specialists from the Korea Institute for National Unification (KINU).
