Korea-Australia Summit Starts Today

President Kim and Australian Prime Minister John Howard will hold a summit meeting on May 19 at Chong Wa Dae.

At the summit, President Kim is expected to express his appreciation for the resumption of diplomatic ties between Canberra and Pyongyang. Prime Minister Howard is expected to explain what steps Australis will take to resume diplomatic ties along with any planned aid for the South's Stalinist neighbor.

Howard is to meet Prime Minister Park Tae-joon, Finance-Economy Minister Lee Hun-jae and the heads of the nation's four major economic organizations before leaving on May 21.
