DPP Talks on Alliance with MDP

The Democratic People's Party (DPP) will discussed possible alliances with other parties at the party leaders meeting to be held on May 24th.

Most of the core figures of the DPP are likely to be present at the meeting, including the party's only elected National Assembly member Han Sung-su, former party president Cho Sun, Chang Ki-pyo, Lee Ki-taek, Shin Sang-woo, and Kim Sang-hyon. They plan to discuss the alliance that President Kim Dae-jung mentioned at an earlier meeting with Kim Yun-hwan this past month. However, Chang Ki-pyo, Shin Sang-woo, and Lee Ki-taek are said to disagree with the proposal.

Chang recently claimed that "an alliance with the Millennium Democratic Party (MDP) and United Liberal Democrats (ULD) would result in the elimination of our party's identity."
