GNP Demands that Korean Ambassador to the U.S. be Reconsidered

After receiving news that former MDP National Assembly member Yang Sung-chul had been nominated as the Korean ambassador to the United States. Grand National Party (GNP) spokesman Kwon Chul-hyeon pointed out that "It is inappropriate to nominate a person who was even passed over to be a candidate in the last election to be ambassador to the United States, our biggest ally," and demanded on May 26 that the decision be reconsidered.

Kwon went on to say that "People worry that the government may be paying too much attention to diplomatic relations between China and Russia while overlooking diplomatic relations with the U.S. Our economy could be endangered if the relationship gets worse because of personnel issues."
