North Korea Demands Repatriation Of Pro-NK Prisoners
North Korea pressed the South on May 26 to release long-term convicts Kim In-seo, Ham Se-hwan, and Kim Young-tae. The trio were arrested directly after the Korean War, but they chose to remain in prison rather than renounce their communist ideology. The North criticized the South through broadcasts aired in Pyongyang, stating that, even in the Middle Ages, prisoners were repatriated after wars. Nevertheless, The broadcats also accused South Korean authorities of behaving like savages, subjecting the prisoners to unnecessary pressure and persecution.
