Lee Man-sup Nominated for Assembly Leader

The Millennium Democratic Party unanimously selected its standing advisor, Lee Man-sup, as their candidate for speaker of the 16th National Assembly on May 31.

The candidacy was open to all members of the party, but following the withdrawal of forerunner Kim Young-bae, senior party members rallied around the nomination of Lee Man-sup.

"I have no intention to become National Assembly leader - I recommend standing advisor Lee," said lawmakers Kim.

Current floor leaders, MDP's Chung Gyun-hwan and Unitied Liberal Democrats' Oh Jang-sup, are supporting Lee's candidacy.
