Kim Chong-hoh Elected Vice Chair of National Assembly

Kim Chong-hoh, the newly-elected vice chair of the National Assembly is known for his persistence. Kim entered the National Assembly as a proportional representative of the Democratic Justice Party (DJP) during the 11th National Assembly and managed to stay on as a lawmaker for six consecutive terms. His tone of speech is soft but tenacious.

During the General Elections, Kim was blacklisted by a coalition of civic groups, forcing him to give up his nomination as a candidate of the United Liberal Democratic Party (ULD). However, he supported the ULD's leader, Kim Jong-pil, during the campaign and earning him a place in the National Assembly. Kim Chong-hoh is also Kim Jong-pil's favorite golf buddy.

Kim Chong-hoh entered government service as a secretary in the Ministry of Political Affairs and climbed the ladder to the top, eventually becoming minister of Home Affairs and Political Affairs. Kim served in several high positions during the presidencies of Chun Doo Hwan, Roh Tae-woo, and Kim Young-sam. Kim moved from the Grand National Party (GNP) to the ULD in April of 1998 when the ULP started to collaborate with the ruling party.

Kim was born in 1965 in Koesan, Northern Chungchong Province. He graduated from Seoul National University, served as Minister of Home Affairs and Political Affairs, served as the DLP's floor leader, and as President of the ULD.
