Kim Says He Will Concentrate on the Divided Family Issue
Chong Wa Dae spokesperson Park Joon-young, responding to a speech by Vice Unification Minister Yang Young-shik, in which Yang had said that President Kim would link the resolution of the divided family issue with aid for the North Korean economy, replied that, "There is a big difference between the opinion of President Kim Dae-jung and the Vice Unification Minister--there is no such plan to link the divided family issue with aid to the North Korean economy."Spokesperson Park went on to say that, "President Kim thinks that because the divided families are getting too old, we should put our full efforts into the divided family issue first. He said that doing so would be the right thing to do from a humanitarian viewpoint."
