Talks to Set 2001 Budget

The government and the ruling Millennium Democratic Party (MDP) opened party-government talks September 5 to deliberate and fine-tune the budget bill for the 2001 fiscal year.

Chief MDP policymaker Lee Hai-chan, Special Committee on Budget and Settlement panel chairman Chang Che-shik, and Jeon Yun-churl are some of the key figures who will participate in the talks slated through September 8.

Party-government officials will be debriefed September 5 on the 101 trillion won budget bill prepared for the fiscal year 2001. The final budget bill will be announced September 8, after preliminary examinations and adjustments by related government agencies are completed.
