Kim, Bush Decide On Meeting 'Soon'
President Kim Dae-jung and the U.S. president-elect, George W. Bush, agreed during Mr. Kim's congratulatory call to meet "as soon as possible," the presidential spokesman, Park Joon-young, said Sunday. With Mr. Bush, who was certified the winner only last week, having yet to name his cabinet and decide on a foreign policy line, Mr. Kim's visit to Washington will be made after April, Mr. Park said.
A ranking official with the foreign ministry contradicted him, however, and forecast that the trip may well take place before a visit to Seoul by the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-il.
Seoul officials have said that the North Korean leader is likely to visit in March.
