Mongolian Chief To Get a Degree From Sogang

Sogang University reported Thursday that it will confer an honorary doctoral degree in political science on President Natsagiyn Bagabandi of Mongolia when he visits Seoul on Monday.

Bayarmaa Bagabandi, Mr. Bagabandi's daughter, received a master's degree in international political economy in 1998 from the university's Graduate School of Economics. Mr. Bagabandi was elected president in 1997.

"President Bagabandi expressed his pleasure at receiving a degree from the same university his daughter graduated from," a university official said.

The official added that he hopes that the honorary degree given to the president will "deepen the amicable relations between Mongolia and South Korea."
