U.S. Delays News About Kim's Visit
The White House postponed on Thursday an announcement of the date of the first meeting between President Kim Dae-jung and President George W. Bush. Both sides had agreed to make public the timing of the March 8 meeting early Thursday morning (Seoul Time) and therefore the Blue House announced it to local media late Wednesday. The U.S. presidential office did not explain the reasons for its delay.
Washington announced only the meeting schedule between Mr. Bush and his Colombian counterpart, Andres Pastrana, on Feb. 27.
"One of the local media released the timing earlier than promised on its Internet site and we believe that the United States is trying to let us know that they are upset about this," a government official said.
