President Departs For Summit in U.S.

President Kim Dae-jung and the first lady, Lee Hee-ho, flew from Seoul Airport in Seongnam Tuesday afternoon to the summit with President George W. Bush. They were to arrive at Andrews Air Force Base outside Washington, D.C., in the afternoon on Tuesday (Washington time).

The two presidents will meet Wednesday at the White House. The summit agenda includes conditions in the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia, policy toward North Korea and the trade problems pending between Korea and America. Mr. Kim and Mr. Bush will hold a joint press conference after the meeting.

President Kim will meet with Secretary of State Colin Powell and with the heads of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund during his three-day visit.
