New Options Trading in July

The Korea Futures Exchange said Sunday that trading in the new Kosdaq 50 options market would begin in July. Selection of the stocks, testing of the trading system and mock trades will be conducted in the meantime, it said.

The inclusion of the options market means that the exchange will have a full lineup of Kosdaq-related index derivatives; trading in the Kosdaq 50 futures market began Jan. 30. Analysts expect that the options market will draw more attention and activity to the Kosdaq. The discrepancy between the spot and future prices of the index is also expected to narrow.

The seven exercise prices for European-style options will be set in 5-point increments. The ceiling on a single order will be 5,000 contracts.
