Key Chinese Aide In Four-Day Visit

Dai Bingguo, head of the International Liaison Department of the Chinese ruling party, arrives in Seoul Monday to pay a visit to President Kim Dae-jung.

During his four-day visit, Mr. Dai is also expected to hold talks with ranking South Korean officials, including National Assembly speaker Lee Man-sup and Foreign Minister Han Seung-soo, to discuss a range of issues including inter-Korean issues and the bilateral relationship between Seoul and Beijing.

Both sides are likely to touch on the controversial Japanese textbook issue, which has upset both South Korea and China.

"We expect that Mr. Dai's visit to South Korea will serve as an opportunity to further strengthen the cooperative relations between the two countries," a government source said.
