New Defense Aides Set Summer Meet
South Korea's Defense Minister Kim Dong-shin and his U.S. counterpart, Donald Rumsfeld, agreed Friday over the telephone to hold defense ministers' talks in the near future, the Defense Ministry said on Friday."Minister Kim's visit to the United States is likely to take place in June or July," a defense ministry official said.
Unsurprisingly, the ministry official said the two officials agreed on the importance of a joint defense posture and the alliance between the two countries.
Both sides also agreed to discuss security issues on the phone regularly.
Mr. Rumsfeld, noting that the annual Security Consultative Meeting, to be held in Washington in November, is still some time away, suggested the two men meet before then.
