Medals to Mark Anniversary of Korea Summit

A medal commemorating the anniversary of last year's June 15 inter-Korean summit will be minted in North Korea and distributed by a South Korean Internet company, an official of the company announced. The distributor is Chosun InterNet, or www.dprk.com. The spokesman said that the North Korean Chosun Central Bank would mint the coin in gold, silver and bronze. A set of all three medals will cost about 1 million won ($780). The coin's face will show South Korean President Kim Dae-jung and the North Korean National Defense Commission Chairman Kim Jong-il raising their hands at the Pyongyang summit in 2000. The back will be etched with signatures of the two leaders.
