North Backs Away From Intrusion Try
A North Korean vessel was turned away in the most recent attempt to pass through the Northern Limit Line in the East Sea (Sea of Japan). Seven North Korean vessels have intruded across the line since June 2."The North Korean commercial vessel Daedonggang did not pass through the Northern Limit Line after active opposition from our navy's warship 80 miles off the east coast at 7 p.m. Friday," an official of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said over the weekend.
The Daedonggang, headed south, turned to the east after a warning from the Korean Navy and sailed four miles north of the line past Tokto Island early Saturday morning.
"The North Korean cargo ship was aware of our opposition," a Ministry of Defense official said.
