A Day Late, Korean Inaugurated at UN

NEW YORK - South Korea's foreign affairs and trade minister, Han Seung-soo, was inaugurated as the president of the 56th session of the UN General Assembly in New York Wednesday afternoon, after a day's postponement due to terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York.

As the first Korean to assume the post, Mr. Han in his keynote speech expressed anger and hatred toward acts of terrorism and their perpetrators. He offered his condolences to the United States.

The Special Session on Children, at which President Kim Dae-jung was to preside and during which he planned to meet with U.S. President George W. Bush, is likely to be postponed for security reasons from the planned dates of Sept. 19 to 21.
