Kim press meeting to include apology
President Kim Dae-jung will hold a New Year’s press conference on Monday, where he is expected to apologize to the people for the involvement of highranking government officials in the recent series of scandals, a Blue House official said on Sunday.During the conference, Mr. Kim will reportedly promise unbiased investigations to root out the corruption that has undermined his administration’s standing.
The official reiterated Mr. Kim’s pledge of a nonpartisan government during the remaining year of his term, and said the president will also pledge neutrality during the ruling Millennium Democratic Party’s primary election in April to name the party’s next presidential candidate.
