Megawati carrying Kim appeal to North
Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri will arrive in North Korea Thursday for a three-day stay on the invitation of Kim Yong-nam, the country's nominal head.Mrs. Megawati will meet North Korean Chairman Kim Jong-il and will be carrying a message from President Kim Dae-jung asking the North to enter into dialogue with South Korea, the United States and Japan, according to a Foreign Ministry official in Seoul.
The Indonesian head of state will visit Seoul Saturday and will brief President Kim on her visit to North Korea.
The government gave permission Tuesday for the charter plane carrying the Indonesian president from Pyeongyang to use the usually prohibited direct air route between the North Korean capital and Seoul.
