MDP realigns posts in party leadership
Hahn Hwa-kap, the newly-elected chairman of the ruling Millennium Democratic Party, named Kim Won-gil as secretary-general in a new leadership lineup announced Tuesday.Mr. Hahn named Representative Park Byung-yoon as chief policymaker and Representative Jong Bum-goo as spokesman, and named the former spokesman, Lee Nak-yon, chairman of the party's first policy coordination coommittee.
Mr. Hahn won the party chairmanship at Saturday's party convention, after dropping out of the presidential race. Roh Moo-hyun won the presidential nomination and and eight members of the leadership body, the Supreme Council, were elected. Two more will be appointed by Mr. Hahn. The new secretary-general is a former health and welfare minister.
