Pyeongyang blasts GNP on games flag

North Korea on Sunday took issue with criticism by South Korea's Grand National Party of the two Koreas' plans for a joint entrance in the Busan Asian Games. The official Korea Central News Agency quoted the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland to the effect that GNP criticism is intended to foster confrontation between the two Koreas.

"The joint entrance with a unified flag at the opening and closing ceremony is supported by all the people and international public opinion," the agency said. It denounced as propaganda the GNP's insistence that the North and South teams should march under individual national flags. Anti-nationalistic behavior, it said, stands in opposition to the people's unification and solidarity
