[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Stand tall for our dignity as Koreans

Jan 21,2003
Kenneth L. Guthrie's letter in Saturday's paper under the headline, "Time to turn our backs on South Korea," made me blow my top. It starts with what the United States did to help South Korea and ends by complaining that the United States should stop importing Korean products.

There is no word about the two girls' deaths. Our anti-U.S feelings did not come out of thin air.

The incident at the 2002 Winter Olympics involving an American short-track skater, Anton Ohno, was the start of it, and after the deaths of the girls it went to the top. From the beginning to the end, our country was not able to have a hand in any of the cases.

It is now at the point that, not having done anything wrong, we are being abused. We should not let things happen like this. We should not let the killers walk away. We have to show them it will take more than not importing our products. Our government has to show the world that we are not a third-class country anymore, by getting back our rights.
