Samsung SDI's 2002 sales up 17%
Samsung SDI Co., a television monitor producer, posted sales of 6.6 trillion won ($5.6 billion) last year, a 17 percent increase. Net profit increased by 6 percent to 590 billion won, the company said. Fourth-quarter sales increased by 93 billion won from the third quarter to 1.8 trillion won, while operating profit slipped by 23 billion won to 172 billion won. Net profit for the quarter decreased by 10 billion won to 126 billion won. Sales of the company's cathode-ray tube, or Braun tube were 1.1 trillion won for the fourth quarter. Sales in new production lines such as plasma digital panels and batteries totaled 121 billion won from October to December.
