Music trade groups fight piracy
Internet users are recommended to refrain from uploading music files or linking to pages that play music. Five associations related to the music business, including the Recording Industry Association of Korea and Korea Music Copyright Association, and five Internet portal sites, including Daum, the largest portal in Korea, NHN and Freechal, said yesterday that they had agreed on a guideline to suppress practices that infringe on copyrights. When record companies or musicians find illegal uploads or links of music files on the portal Web sites and report them to the community operators, the portal operators will eliminate the uploads and block the users' access.
