One step for a soldier, one problem for UN

Twenty centimeters (8 inches) is a big distance in the surreal world of the Joint Security Area at the Korean War truce village of Panmunjeom.
A North Korean soldier, a member of a group cutting grass on the north side of the Military Demarcation Line, crossed the line into the southern part of the security area by that distance yesterday morning, an official at the United Nations Command said, and the command is treating the matter seriously.
The official said, “Even though the soldier crossed the border accidentally by just one step, it was clearly a violation of the 1953 Korean War armistice agreement. We will investigate the matter rigorously.”
In the Joint Security Area, there is no true border line on the ground; the armistice line is marked by stakes 10 meters apart.
