INTERNATIONAL BULLFIGHTING CONTEST

To Sunday March 23: One of the oldest rodeos on the peninsula kicks off Saturday for 10 days of fun. Korean bullfighting is quite different from the Western variety: there are no matadors, as it is bull-versus-bull. Each day features about 15 matches with bulls from around the world. Last year’s events drew about 600,000 spectators.

VOLUNTEERS WANTED FOR CROSS-CULTURAL EXCHANGE

Thursday and Friday: The Korean Commission for UNESCO seeks foreigners of diverse backgrounds, along with Korean bilingual interpreters, as volunteers for its cross-cultural awareness program in Korean public schools. An orientation session, to be held March 20 for Koreans and March 21 for foreigners, will introduce program. Deadline to register for orientation is March 19.

SEOUL MUSEUM OF ART

To April 13: “Life: Realist Art in the 1980s.” Twenty pieces donated by Gana Art in 2001 display works by Korean artists from throughout the 1980s. These works use realism to depict nationalistic motifs.
